Cambridge Terrace/Durham Street night works
Cambridge Terrace/Durham Street closes for four nights from Tuesday 16 January for final road sealing and line marking between Worcester Boulevard and Lichfield Street as part of the Central City Transport Projects programme.
Work is taking place each night, from 8pm until 6am, to minimise impacts on nearby businesses and road users. Cambridge Terrace/Durham Street will temporarily close between Armagh Street and Tuam Street and detour routes and signage will be in place.
Ōtākaro CEO Albert Brantley says that once the final surface in this section is finished the traffic islands and other road ‘features’ will be put in place. Other work includes paving near the Bridge of Remembrance, and finishing the adjacent footpaths.
When complete, Cambridge Terrace/Durham Street will have two lanes of southbound traffic, a shared path for cyclists and pedestrians on its eastern side, and the block between Lichfield and Tuam Streets will also have one northbound lane to enable easy access from the west along Tuam Street into the Retail Precinct.
Cambridge Terrace/Durham Street is planned to be completed in April 2018.
Contractor Downer is also planning a series of weekend road closures starting in February. Work will start at 8pm on Friday nights and continue all weekend until 6am on Mondays. More information including locations will be provided once confirmed.
Commuters should check www.tfc.govt.nz for up to date information on closures or disruptions.
