City Promenade scavenger hunt to mark opening

A $5,000 Discover Travel voucher and range of other prizes will be on offer to mark the opening of the City Promenade on Sunday 25 November 2018.

“We’re holding a City Promenade scavenger hunt to get people familiar with the shared pathway that runs along Oxford Terrace, from the Hospital to the Margaret Mahy Family Playground,” says Ōtākaro Limited Chief Executive, John Bridgman.

“This will be the first time the 2km City Promenade, a key part of Te Papa Ōtākaro/Avon River Precinct, is open from end to end.

You will be able to grab an entry form near the Antigua Street pedestrian bridge or at the eastern end of the City Promenade, across from the Margaret Mahy Family Playground, from 10am. On the form are ten simple questions about features along the City Promenade that can be filled in and dropped in an entry box at either end of the Promenade by 4pm that day.

Correct entries will go in the draw to win $10,000 worth of prizes from a range of businesses along the City Promenade, including a $5,000 Discover Travel voucher, and vouchers from Crane Brothers, Miro, The Pegasus Arms and more.

Entertainment will be available along the Promenade throughout the day and EOS Ecology will be on The Terraces running ‘Tuna Talks’ and helping kids feed the eels.

Around 500 trees, 29,000 plants, 600,000 pavers and 34 artworks and installations have gone into creating the City Promenade and greater Avon River Precinct, which has been designed to give people improved access to the river and make it a feature of the central city.

“We know this has been a hard project for people to get their heads around with all the fences and cones so bring the bike, the pram or your walking shoes and come for a look. With the prizes on offer you may get to travel even further than expected,” says Mr Bridgman.

 

 

City Promenade Scavenger Hunt – Terms and Conditions

1. The promoter is Ōtākaro Limited whose registered office is at Level 8, HSBC Tower, 62 Worcester Boulevard, Christchurch 8013, New Zealand.
2. Information on how to enter and the prizes forms part of these terms and conditions. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. 
3. The competition is open to residents of New Zealand, except employees of Ōtākaro Limited and their close relatives and anyone otherwise connected with the organization of the competition. Entrants under the age of 18 require the consent of their parent or legal guardian to enter the competition.
4. To enter, entrants must complete and sign a City Promenade Scavenger Hunt entry card (Entry Card) and participate in the City Promenade Scavenger Hunt. Entry Cards from entrants under the age of 18 must be signed by the parent or legal guardian of the entrant. All eligible entries received from entrants with all questions answered correctly will be entered into the prize draw.   
5. The City Promenade Scavenger Hunt will take place on [Sunday 25 November 2018]. Entries must be received by [5.00pm] on [Sunday 25 November 2018].  The prize draw will take place on 26 November.
6. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
7. Only one entry will be accepted per person.
8. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
9. The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice because of circumstances outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.
10. The prizes are as follows: 1x $5000 Discover Travel voucher and $5000 worth of assorted vouchers from businesses located on the City Promenade.
11. Prize are as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. Prizes are not transferable.
12. The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.
13. Winners will be chosen at random from all eligible entries.
14. Each winner will be contacted by phone or email using details provided on the Entry Card. If a winner cannot be contacted within [24 hours] the promoter reserves the right to redraw the prize.
15. The promoter will notify winners when and where prize(s) can be collected and/or delivered. The promoter is not liable for damages or loss to prizes sent by post or courier.
16. The promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of any entry and to disqualify any entry or refuse to award a prize where false or misleading details have been given or where an entrant has behaved in a fraudulent or dishonest manner or otherwise than in accordance with these terms and conditions.   
17. The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
18. To the full extent permitted by law, the promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever suffered or personal injury as a result of participating in the competition.  
19. The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current New Zealand data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
20. The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by the law of New Zealand and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
